The Service Experts Heating and Air Conditioning Field Support Office in Plano, TX was thrilled to contribute over 300 pounds of food to Minnie’s Food Pantry, also located in the Texas city.
“Last year, I had the opportunity to get a group together to volunteer at Minnie’s and it was an unbelievable experience,” said Amanda Wilson, Operations Specialist for Service Experts. “They go above and beyond providing food – they are a vital part of this community.”
Minnie’s Food Pantry was started by Cheryl Jackson as a way to recognize her mother, Minnie Hawthorne-Ewing D.D., who spent her younger years wondering if and where she would get her next meal. Minnie’s doesn’t just provide free, healthy meals to families in need, they also hold classes to teach families how to incorporate the food they receive to create nutritious, long-lasting meals. They also offer resume assistance along with money-management and job classes to help people get back on their feet.
Because around 50 pounds of food is given to each family to last them a month, Service Experts was able to supply meals for six families for the month.
“All the team members were so ecstatic that we had this food drive for them, and they even took us around their amazing facility,” Wilson said.
