4 Signs it's Time to Replace your Boiler

March 04, 2017

Is it time to replace your new boiler? Service Experts Heating & Air Conditioning is here with a couple signals to look for when determining whether it’s time to invest in a new boiler.

Age

If your condensing boiler receives routine maintenance, you can expect it to function about 15 years or so. Cast iron boilers can last a lot longer, even up to 50 years with proper maintenance. If your condensing boiler is coming up on 15 years or your cast iron boiler is almost 50 years, it may be time to discuss an upgrade.

Bills

If your utility bills are going up or you’re having to maintain your boiler more frequently, it could be because it’s time to invest in a new, more efficient boiler.

Discoloration

If you notice yellow flames on the gas burners and black soot on oil burners it could be a sign that the fuel is not burning properly and could be creating carbon monoxide. If you see these issues or have any concerns surrounding carbon monoxide in your home, you should call Service Experts or your gas company straightaway.

Comfort

If some of the rooms in your home are too warm or too cool and you can’t seem to control them correctly or get them comfortable, it could be that your boiler is no longer effective and you may need to look into upgrade alternatives.
