Frequently Asked Questions
There’s often a simpler solution to your comfort problem. Maybe you can find the answer you’re looking for in our FAQ below!
-
What is water treatment?
Water treatment systems or chemicals are designed to eliminate negative traits in potable water. Most homeowners use either a whole-home filter system and water softeners. They can filter out contaminants and excess minerals capable of impacting taste, color and even cleanliness.
-
Is a whole-house water filter system worth it?
When homeowners live somewhere with more minerals in the water supply, a whole-house water filtration system can be the perfect solution. Installing a water treatment system is especially beneficial if you live near construction, mining or agriculture industries.
-
Do I need a home water treatment system?
You might need a water treatment system if you’re constantly struggling with soap scum, spotty dishes or bad taste. You can find out for sure by scheduling a free water test from our Experts.
-
How does a home water treatment system work?
Many home filtration products use one or more methods to eliminate pollutants and sediment. This could include mechanical filtration, meaning the impurities are physically trapped within the filter itself. They’re often combined with a reverse osmosis membrane, ideal for trapping organic chemicals and microorganisms. Some types of treatment systems even use ultraviolet light for its sanitizing properties.
-
How do water softeners work?
Water softeners utilize a tank filled with special beads of resin to attract and trap the minerals responsible for hard water, such as calcium and magnesium. Hard water enters the bead-filled tank and the minerals are captured within the beads. The now-softened water can then be returned to your plumbing system. These beads can’t hold an infinite amount of minerals, so a salt solution is pumped into the tank. Through the natural process of sodium ion exchange, the sodium molecules displace the minerals from the beads before they are drained from your water supply entirely.
-
What’s the best method for treating water at home?
The ideal water treatment system depends on where you live and your daily water usage. Those with delicate health might do best with a whole-home filtration system, while people frustrated with hard water should consider a softener system. The Expert plumbers at Longmont Service Experts Heating & Air Conditioning can offer tailored suggestions concerning which product(s) would be perfect for your plumbing.
